About kaizou

Kaizou is a format for describing modifications to be applied to a web page after it has been loaded into a browser.

Kaizou can be used in many ways:

Kaizou files can either be installed locally in your Kaizou cache to be applied automatically, or embedded in special links called 'klinks'

When clicking on a klink, the browser will load the corresponding remote Kaizou file and apply it temporarily to the target page. You can then at any time see the unmodified page by clicking the refresh button in your browser.

Klinks are particularily handy to share non-permanent transformations with others, or to try-out a particular permanent transformation before actually deciding to install it.

Today, only Firefox supports Kaizou in a stand-alone fashion, using the Kaizou Firefox Extension.

On Kaizou.org, a server-implementation is also available to Firefox and IE users.

Once you have installed the extension, you can start using it by clicking on Klinks stored in the Kaizou repository.

You can also create your own Kaizou files by using the Kaizou editor included in the extension.

Kaizou is based on XML. You can go to this page to get the full Kaizou specifications.

If you feel comfortable enough with Kaizou, you can register and start posting your own Kaizou description files in the repository.

Now, why another extension when all it does can be achieved through proper use of user javascript/css and greasemonkey/stylish extensions ?

The kaizou project can be contacted through the mailing list or the member list.
